Teachers must make content accessible by presenting ideas in powerful ways, and implementing the most effect approach that will interest students and yield a greater understanding.

 

Component 1a includes three elements, Disciplinary Expertise, Pedagogical Content Knowledge, and Knowledge of Interdisciplinary Relationship and Skills. Many students are anxious about math word problems, and a math teacher can implement the most beneficial and efficient approach to the problem. As a teacher, we can show students that math word problems are not as bad as they seem, and we can also address previous preconceptions about them.
