Field Experience
Mrs. Reichard's Kindergarten Classroom at Hillview Elementary, Grove City, PA
During the 2025 spring semester of my sophomore year, I had the opportunity to observe and actively engage with students in Mrs. Reichard's Kindergarten classroom. Throughout my time in this field experience, Mrs. Reichard had me working with students in different math stations that followed her lesson plans, instructing students on how to add, subtract, identify 3-D and 2-D shapes, recognize patterns, and work on other math concepts. I enjoyed working with students in small groups because it allowed me to work with students one on one, and I was able to help them when needed. When I attended the classroom once a week, Mrs. Reichard made sure to switch students in the stations so that I was able to get to know all of her students personally. After stations, Mrs. Reichard would have me helping students behave on the carpet when she was instructing at the front of the classroom. She often gave me the opportunity to teach part of her lesson regarding to different math concepts that they were learning in class that day.

I really enjoyed my field experience with Mrs. Reichard, and she has taught me how to properly manage classroom behavior, make lesson plans hands-on and minds-on, and get students to critically think about certain math concepts. I loved how she always had me working with her students allowing me to gain more experience in the classroom. This particular field has also made me really like kindergarten, and I can see myself teaching in a kindergarten classroom in the future. I enjoyed my field experience since it allowed me to learn new instructional strategies, build meaningful connections with students, and witness their personal and academic growth firsthand. This experience also strengthened my classroom management skills, adaptability, and passion for promoting student success in the classroom.
