Acting in Service of Students demonstrates that teachers should work to address issues such as students feeling excluded and unsafe from the learning environment, so that teachers can provide a positive learning community.

Elements include Acting with Care, Honesty, and Integrity, Ethical Decision-Making, and Advocacy. If a teacher sees a student who is getting picked on, the teacher should pull the bully aside, have a conversation and give a warning, and make sure the issue does not happen again. Teachers want to immediately address the issue so that they can create a safe and welcoming environment for all their students.
